Annett Rombach appointed as member of the Appointment Committee of the German Court of Sports Arbitration
Our colleague Annett Rombach has been appointed as member of the Appointment Committee (Ernennungsausschuss) of the German Court of Sports Arbitration (DIS Sportschiedsgericht).
The Appointment Committee consists of six members, who combine special practical and academic expertise both in arbitration and in sports law. The Committee’s main tasks are the appointment of arbitrators in proceedings in which a party fails to nominate an arbitrator, and the appointment of a sole arbitrator where the parties seek the rendering of a consent award. The Committee also decides on a party’s objection to the opponent’s nomination of an arbitrator.
The German Court of Sports Arbitration is an increasingly important institution administering sports arbitration proceedings in Germany, including disputes relating to anti-doping rule violations. The number of new cases is rising significantly. In 2017, the German Court of Sports Arbitration registered a new record number of 27 new cases (compared to 7 cases in 2014).
Annett’s appointment is effective immediately for a two-year-term.
